Student Seminars

With increased awareness, effective participation, and early intervention, suicide is not inevitable.  We can avoid the lasting human, social, and economic impact of suicide.

Prevention is critically important, possible, and effective---especially if the warning signs are recognized and acted upon early.students

Student seminars will be available throughout the academic year.

Training programs will provide you with information to use
immediately if someone comes to you for help.

Certification available in QPR Gatekeeper Training for Suicide Prevention

Learn the risk factors and warning signs.

There is no shame in asking or receiving help for mental health issues.

Training materials from the seminars (coming soon)

These are the face-to-face workshops offered to the student body. There are three workshops available, but they are separate and can be taken individually.  A description of each workshop follows:

1.  ULM HELPS-Help in a Crisis:  This workshop will help everyone to know what to do when someone needs help in a crisis situation, such as suicide prevention, or another mental health issue.

2. ULM HELPS-Mental Wellness As a Way of Life: This workshop will focus on Mental Health Wellness as a chosen way of life, including seeking help when needed, and learning how to handle life’s ups and downs.

3.  ULM HELPS-Seeking Help for Mental Health Issues:  This workshop will focus on learning to accept all people, and de-stigmatizing help seeking behaviors for all people.
