The University of Louisiana Monroe (ULM) is committed to fostering a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all members of its community. This commitment extends to all individuals who participate in or seek to participate in ULM’s programs and activities. In alignment with Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 and other applicable laws, ULM strictly prohibits sexual misconduct and power-based violence.

Implementing Preventative Policies and Procedures: ULM is proactive in establishing comprehensive policies and procedures aimed at preventing acts of sexual misconduct and power-based violence.

Responding Promptly and Appropriately: The University is committed to taking immediate and appropriate action to investigate reports of sexual misconduct and power-based violence. We ensure that any such conduct is addressed effectively, and those found responsible are held accountable, in accordance with the law and principles of due process.

Providing Support and Assistance: ULM offers robust support and resources to individuals affected by sexual misconduct and power-based violence. We are dedicated to providing the necessary assistance to complainants and ensuring they are informed of their rights and options.

Complying with Legal Reporting Requirements: ULM adheres to all legal obligations for reporting instances of sexual misconduct and power-based violence, ensuring transparency and accountability in our response efforts.

By upholding these commitments, ULM aims to promote a campus culture of safety, respect, and equality, where all individuals can thrive.


Memorandum Of Understanding (MOU) with Law Enforcement

The University of Louisiana Monroe has a written memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Ouachita Parish District Attorney’s Office, the Monroe Police Department, the West Monroe Police Department, the Sterlington Police Department, the Richwood Police Department, the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office, and Louisiana Delta Community College (LDCC). This working agreement is recognized as a cooperative, collaborative commitment between the all the parties, to delineate responsibilities and share information, in accordance with applicable state and federal confidentiality laws, including by not limited to trends regarding power-based violence committed by or against students of an institution.

With signature to this MOU by all parties, representatives are demonstrating a commitment to the requirements of La R.S 17:3399.14
