The RN to Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BS) online offering is an opportunity for registered nurses to be admitted and graduate from a baccalaureate degree program. Registered nurses who hold an unencumbered license may be awarded forty-one (41) hours of nursing credit upon completion of the appropriate pre-requisite courses. Thirty-two (32) hours must be earned through online instruction offered by the University of Louisiana at Monroe. The total number of hours for the degree is 125.
RN to BS Program
The nursing curriculum is composed of two segments, pre-nursing & professional. Pre-nursing for the registered nurse comprises academic work in an accredited college or university. It includes instruction in general education and the basic biological and social sciences to prepare the student for professional nursing.
The professional program in nursing is offered after admission to the School of Nursing. It is comprised of professional nursing courses which prepare the student for the practice of professional nursing with the baccalaureate degree in nursing.
Admission Requirements
Students must meet specific admission requirements to be accepted into the RN to BSN online degree program. These requirements include:
• Graduate from a state-approved diploma or associate degree nursing program
• Currently hold an unencumbered RN license to practice
• Have a minimum corrected, cumulative grade point average of 2.0 in all required pre-nursing courses (excluding grades earned in developmental education courses).
• Have proof of current licensure, personal professional liability insurance, and health insurance
