The Ed.D. in Curriculum and Instruction is designed for persons who are interested in and show promise of becoming scholars and leaders in the domains of curriculum, teaching, teacher education, and/or educational policy at the K-12 or college level, or in local, state, regional, or national agencies.

This 60 credit-hour degree features a solid, rigorous program of academic coursework and research experiences which prepares future scholars and practitioners to understand and address P-12 school problems and needs from a holistic perspective. Applicants to this program can either enter post-bachelors degree or post-Masters.

If applicants enter post-bachelors, they will first complete a terminal degree in a Masters program in Education or a related field before proceeding with the doctoral program of coursework.

Admission Requirements

For admission into the Curriculum & Instruction program, candidates must hold one of the following: 

Candidates must also hold a current license and/or certification in their major field of study.

All applicants must have a minimum cumulative undergraduate grade point average of at least 2.75 and a minimum cumulative graduate grade point average of at least 3.25 to be considered for admission.

All applicants must have completed the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) with minimum Verbal score of 500 and minimum Quantitative score of 500 + minimum 4.5 A for Full Admission OR minimum Verbal score of 500 and minimum Quantitative score of 500 + minimum > 3.5 A for Probational Admission.

Admissions Procedures

There are two steps to applying to the Ed.D. Program in Curriculum and Instruction.

  1. Submit a complete application to ULM Graduate School, including all non-ULM transcripts, GRE scores, and application fee.

  2. Submit a completed packet of the following items directly to the Program Director, either by email to tford@ulm.edu or via mail to:

The application process is selective, so meeting the minimum requirements for admission does not necessarily guarantee admittance into the program.
