Shaneka Hebert of Opelousas, communication senior at the University of Louisiana at Monroe, placed third in video editing in competition sponsored by the Southwest Journalism Congress.

Hebert's video feature titled "A Caring Environment" focuses on the changes at the University of Louisiana at Monroe under the leadership of President James Cofer. The video, which was produced under the direction of Jeff Gibson, associate professor of mass communications, was broadcast by KNOE-TV8 in Monroe.

The competition winners were announced recently at the annual SWJC convention in Dallas. Entries were from mass communication departments and student publications at universities in Louisiana, Texas and Oklahoma.
