Members of the Panhellenic Sororities at the University of Louisiana at Monroe will celebrate International Badge Day on March 11 this year.

International Badge Day is an annual event during which sorority women everywhere honor the Greek affiliations by wearing their badge of letters. The theme this year is, "Build New Traditions for the Future." There are twenty-six member organizations of the National Panhellenic Conference (NPC) that will be celebrating this event, including the ones at ULM.

The ULM members of Alpha Omicron Pi, Phi Mu, and Kappa Delta will participate by handing out information about ULM sororities between classes.

The year 2002 marked a milestone for the National Panhellenic Conference as the organization celebrated the one hundredth anniversary of its founding in 1902. In 2003, NPC looks forward to building a strong future for the next one hundred years. The NPC believes that fraternity is a social experience based o the fundamental right of a free people to form voluntary associations. It is one of the enrichments of college life.

Fraternities exist because they:
*Provide a good democratic social experience.
*Give value beyond college years.
*Create, through their ideals, an ever ­widening circle of service beyond the membership.
*Develop the individual's potential through leadership opportunities and group effort.
*Fill the need of belonging.

One of NPC's greatest services is providing Area Advisors who assist College Panhellenics and Alumnae Panhellenics. Members are represented on over 620 college and university campuses in the United States and Canada and in more than 4,900 alumnae associations, making up over 3.5 millions sorority women in the world.
