Officials at the University of Louisiana at Monroe were recently informed by the State of Louisiana Office of Risk Management, Loss Prevention Unit, that the University was in compliance with Revised Statutes 39:1543-44, of the Loss Prevention Program. As a result of this, ULM will receive a 5% reduction in its budgeted insurance premium. This is the first time ULM has passed the audit since 1998.
The announcement comes after a re- audit of ULM in the spring by the Office of Risk Management. The letter of compliance, addressed to ULM President James Cofer states, "I would like to thank you and all of your staff for the support and commitment to the program. Jason Roubique, (ULM's) Environmental Health and Safety Officer, has put a lot of effort into implementing the program and has many innovative ideas for enhancing the program for the future. However, none of this could take place without the support of you, Dr. Nick Bruno and the rest of your executive staff."
ULM was notified in a letter written by Doris Jones Copeland, State Loss Prevention Manager.
Loss Prevention includes areas such as equipment management, crime, general safety, and driver safety.
Dr. Nick Bruno, Vice President for Business Affairs at ULM requested a re-audit earlier this year. Bruno says the addition of Roubique late last year has been instrumental in allowing ULM to come into compliance in several areas of Loss Prevention.
Bruno says, "Since Roubique joined us, he has helped the ULM Environmental Health and Safety Department become more visible by having its own web page: http://www.ulm.edu/safety/. The page has features such as an online Safety Manual , a list of Safety Coordinators and their duties, and several other University polices. This administration is proud of the work he and the entire University community has done and we are proud to say we passed the audit."
