The Department of Curriculum and Instruction at the University of Louisiana at Monroe will host Educational Tools for Success April 26-27 at ULM. The conference is co-sponsored by Region VIII Center for Assistive Technology. The Louisiana Assistive Technology Initiative (LATI) is part of a grant provided by the Louisiana State Department of Education, Department of Education Improvement and Assistance. The mission of the initiative is to provide leadership and support to local education agencies and families in the development and implementation of assistive technology services that will have meaningful application in the educational, social, recreational, vocational and developmental experiences for students with disabilities. Speakers include professionals from all over Louisiana as well as the United States. Educational software companies such as Riverdeep, Inc., Don Johnston, Inc., Slater Software, Crick Software and LightSpeed Technologies will present sessions and provide participants with opportunities to get hands-on exposure to their products. The sessions will also provide information on a variety of topics for educators working with students in grades K 12. The focus of Educational Tools for Success is to spread knowledge about Assistive Technology (AT) and Universal Designs for Learning, or UDLs. These principles and ideals create learning environments that encompass the varied learning styles of all students.
