The ULM Department of Criminal Justice's Institute of Law Enforcement will offer a Critical Incident Stress Management Group Intervention course April 23 – 24 from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. at 420 Wheelis St. in West Monroe (the physical location of the North Delta Regional Training Academy).

The course is designed to address groups of people that need crisis-related defusing and trauma reduction services. It provides comprehensive training that addresses various components of crisis intervention; in particular, techniques and procedures associated with small group defusing are provided. The ability to use group processes to alleviate crisis-related symptoms will be a central feature of this training. In addition, PTSD intervention, emergency mental health skills, on-site support for emergency response and law enforcement personnel, as well as a wide range of practical skills and techniques, will be emphasized.

Fourteen CEUs of credit are available for this 14-hour course, which will be taught by Sylvia Wimberly, a clinically certified forensic counselor.

Maximum enrollment size is 30 individuals. The cost is $50 for each agency employee.
