The American Advertising Federation’s Silver Medal Award recognizes men and women who have made outstanding contributions to advertising and who have been active furthering the industry’s standards, creative excellence and responsibility in areas of social concern – all of which summarize Clow, the Margaret and Bernard Biedenharn Chair of Business, quite well.

Excerpts from the awards presentation include:

“Ken personifies one of the best qualities a professor or teacher can have, and that is to care about students. He believes if you care, then the rest will follow. He will go way out of his way to help students excel in the classroom, from setting up computer work stations in his office to use and create ads, to feeding them chili or pizza and cookies at study sessions to encourage them to attend …

“Maybe what makes it all work is that he teaches by example, by exhibiting the very qualities he’s trying to encourage. In life, be it at home, church, community, or college, he gives all he’s got and is being the best that he can be also.”
