Northeast Louisiana’s teeth will be well taken care of, thanks to progressive new developments in the University of Louisiana at Monroe Dental Hygiene Department.
Dental hygiene was recently rewarded with the most up-to-date digital X-ray technology pertinent to that career field, allowing the department to further thrive and progress. It has also expanded its service locations to reach the public at Riser Elementary and at the Ouachita Parish Health Unit branch on Texas Avenue in Monroe.
As further proof of the department’s continuing success, it received notification Aug. 8 from the Commission on Dental Accreditation of the American Dental Association that it has been granted the accreditation status of “approval without reporting requirements.”
“Our department is committed to providing the absolute best care for the public we reach, thanks to the most educated and knowledgeable staff that are there to teach us,” said Crystal S. Clack, a senior from Monroe. “As a student, I am thankful to be a part of such a wonderful, diligent and dedicated staff.”
ULM students and the public may receive dental hygiene services such as cleanings, fluoride treatments, sealants, x-rays, and patient education at the dental hygiene clinic located in Caldwell Hall Mondays through Thursdays from 1 – 5 p.m. Making an appointment is mandatory.
