BOR nominates Brown to serve on prestigious board
The Louisiana Board of Regents recently nominated Ralph Brown III, history professor at the University of Louisiana at Monroe, to be a member of the History Editorial Board of MERLOT (Multimedia Educational Resource for Learning and Online Teaching.)
MERLOT, an international initiative, enables faculty to integrate technology in higher education. Twenty-seven systems and institutions of higher education, as well as the National Science Foundation and the EDUCAUSE Learning Initiative, support MERLOT.
Brown is enthused about his recent honor. "I look forward to contributing to the MERLOT History Editorial Board; among other things, the board helps students and instructors worldwide to discover academically sound and intellectually stimulating internet and electronic teaching sites."
Brown was chosen to be a member of the editorial board due to his expertise in history, his excellence in teaching, his experience using technology in the classroom, and his participation in professional associations. Brown’s appointment reflects the judgment of his peers that he is exemplary in these areas, according to a letter from MERLOT.
As part of his new responsibilities, Brown will contribute 15 resources to MERLOT, help develop the MERLOT web site, attend MERLOT conferences, participate in online communication activities, participate in training for editors and editorial boards, engage in the scholarship of teaching, and present at professional conferences and institutional events.
