Gregory has been an intern and student worker with the ULM Social Science Research Laboratory since 2007. There, she has interned for Senator Mike Walsworth's office and also assisted in grant research and development for several SSRL projects. Gregory said, "The SSRL has given me the opportunity to improve my education and expand my opportunities with experiences and training beyond the classroom.” SSRL Co-director John W. Sutherlin stated, "Lynette is a great example of what we wanted the SSRL to be for students: a resource that helps springboard them into whatever position or career path they choose. One of our past SSRL students worked in the Attorney General's Office. That experience paved the way for her career. This is a great opportunity for any young woman wanting to develop contacts and experience in Louisiana politics." The LCWG is actively engaged in statewide leadership programming, including the Hall of Fame Ceremony, Louisiana Girls Leadership Academy, Campaign Institute, Congress to Campus, Legislative Women’s Luncheon, Statewide Leadership Institute for Women, “Women’s Perspective” on “Bayou Time,” and regional celebrity fundraisers. Next year, the LCWG will initiate a National Women’s Leadership Summit with honorary chairs and U.S. Senators Mary Landrieu and Olympia Snowe. ULM has now sent three students to participate in the LCWG program.
