The match was held on Saturday, Dec. 11, in Shreveport, and represents the third such event in which Harpin has competed. Harpin earned a first-place award in State Patrol competition and placed sixth overall in Patrol Division competition. The event was hosted by the NRA Law Enforcement Division, in which only law enforcement officers may compete. Harpin said the match is called a "three-gun" competition since officers literally shoot from three types of firearms – handguns, rifles, and shotguns. The format is a combat-style match.
ULM Chief of Police Larry Ellerman said the award is indicative of the quality of officers at ULM who keep the campus secure. |
