This award, which is in excess of $90,000, is the 10th Perkins grant that Bowman has received. She has previously been awarded more than $600,000 in grant funding as principal investigator and project administrator from private and state agencies such as the AARP Andrus Foundation, Louisiana Children's Trust Fund and the Louisiana State Department of Education. Bowman's project, "ULM's Basic Vocational Education Grant," provides associate degree students at ULM with career counseling, job readiness skill training and high tech training for growth industries. A major focus of this educational training project is to market ULM's programs to older, nontraditional students and for persons with limited resources. Dave DeRousse will serve as the Project Director and Counselor for the "Perkin's Career Center." DeRousse brings over 15 years of experience in Vocational Education and Administration to ULM.
