Mark Clark, a ULM associate professor of music, published his new research book entitled “Guide to the Aria Repertoire”
February 16.

Pix of book coverAccording to Amazon.com’s editorial reviews, the book is “a long-awaited resource for the young operatic singer.” The book is a 400-piece catalog that contains templates for both contemporary and obscure opera pieces.

“Guide to the Aria Repertoire” showcases advice and teaching techniques from prominent opera singers, coaches and directors, including Warren Jones, Carol Vaness and Sherrill Milnes. The book extends background information and detailed descriptions of the arias, considered of potential use to students studying lesser-known ones.

Students and instructors alike may find it to be a valuable study tool. The book gives the reader a variety of works to choose from, especially singers looking for a piece to perform at auditions. Instructors can explore the areas of pitch and tempo with the book’s notes.

The book can be purchased at Barnes & Noble (limited) and select music stores. For more information about “Guide to the Aria Repertoire” visit www.amazon.com
