ULM to offer Cognitive Processing Therapy
Workshop March 6 – 7

The ULM Counseling Center, the Department of Educational Leadership and Counseling, and the Lambda Chapter of Chi Sigma Iota will present a Cognitive Processing Therapy Workshop March 6 – 7 at the ULM Conference Center (Library, 7th floor). Thursday, March 6 hours are 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., and Friday, March 7 hours are 8 a.m. – 3 p.m.

The workshop is designed to teach clinicians and practitioners Cognitive Processing Therapy, a 12-week treatment protocol that combines Cognitive and Exposure therapies for the treatment of Posttraumatic Stress Disorder. Workshop participants can expect to become very knowledgeable about the delivery of CPT to survivors of trauma.

The facilitators will be: Dr. Tara Galovski, assistant research professor and clinical director of the Center for Trauma Recovery, department of psychology, University of Missouri-St. Louis, and Dr. Greer Richardson, assistant clinical professor, department of psychiatry, Yale University, and national trainer for CPT for Posttraumatic Stress Disorder.

CPT has accumulated empirical support in a variety of trauma populations, including, but not limited to, female and male survivors of interpersonal assault, combat veterans, survivors of terrorist attacks, and motor vehicle accident survivors. The strong empirical results have been replicated across sites and among investigators, both domestically and internationally.

Space is limited, so early registration is advised. The registration fee by Friday, Feb. 22 is $175; afterwards, it is $200. The Continuing Education certificate fee is $25. This workshop will qualify for 12.5 hours of Continuing Education units.
