Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists may achieve the ACE distinction by earning seven Continuing Education Units in a 36-month period. Some individuals like Fellows, however, complete the requirements in less time and are awarded successive ACEs in the three-year cycle. ASHA encourages professionals to continue learning throughout their professional career, as well as maintain current knowledge and skills. Dr. Ellen C. Fagan, director of Continuing Education for ASHA, and Patti Solomon-Rice, chair of the ASHA Continuing Education Board, praised Fellows for doing exactly this. “Dr. Fellows joins a select group of individuals who have made a concerted, personal effort to continue professional learning beyond an academic degree.” |
