Muslim Student Association to host “Islam: Common Misconceptions” Feb. 21

The Muslim Student Association will host a presentation Thursday, Feb. 21 titled “Islam: Common Misconceptions” in the Student Union Building, Ballroom A at 5:30 p.m.

Carmen Shbeeb-Khanfar will address many questions, including: Who is Allah, What is the status of women in Islam, Do Muslims believe in Jesus, Is Islam a violent religion? Shbeeb-Khanfar will also discuss why Muslim women wear a head cover and will address the phenomena of honor killings as well as terrorism. All ULM students, faculty and staff are invited to attend.

The ULM Muslim Student Association is an organization whose purpose is introducing Islam, its history, and values to all interested students in order to clear the many misconceptions that exist about Islam today. In addition, the MSA promotes friendly relations with other religious groups present on campus.
