A native of Britain, Lock came to the United States to study American literature in 1983, and has remained here studying and teaching it ever since. Her main interests are African American, contemporary American, and multicultural fiction, though she loves nineteenth century American fiction, too. She has published a book “A Case of Mis-Taken Identity: Detective Undercurrents in Recent African American Fiction,” and has also published many articles. She is an active member of the National Association of Ethnic Studies, and is a big music fan — an interest that sometimes finds its way into her research, according to her web site. She earned her Ph.D. in English from the University of Virginia. |
