The School of Visual and Performing Arts at the University of Louisiana at Monroe announces upcoming dates for the Faculty Artist Concert Series.
Tuesday, March 3: Chamber Arts Brass Trio
The ULM Chamber ensemble consists of faculty members Marilynn Gibson, trumpet; James Boldin, horn; and Micah Everett, trombone. The trio will perform an arrangement by Dr. Boldin of Arcangelo Corelli’s Sonata in D for two Violins and Continuo for the brass instrumentation. An interesting brass composition by David Sampson entitled Duncan Trio will follow. The ULM Dance Troupe, under the direction of Robin Stephens and Tina Mullone, will perform during the second half of the program in Vaclav Nelhybel’s Trio for Brass. The program will end with Arthur Frachenpohl’s Brass Trio, which was written for the Philadelphia Brass Trio.
Tuesday, March 10: “Around the World in 90 minutes”
ULM Assistant Professor of Clarinet and Saxophone Scot Humes will perform with guest pianist Daniel Schlosberg, artist-in-residence and instructor at the University of Notre Dame. Listeners will take a musical tour around the globe, starting in the USA and traveling through Latin America, Japan, Hungary, France, and back to the USA. Music is composed by Martin Rokeach, Paquito D’Rivera, Koh Okumura, Kokai Rezso, Ernest Chausson, and Aaron Copland.
Wednesday, April 1: Mezzo and Trombone
ULM Assistant Voice Professor Susan Olson and Micah Everett, assistant professor of trombone and low brass will perform.
All concerts begin at 7:30 p.m. in ULM’s Emy-Lou Biedenharn Recital Hall. Tickets are $10 for general admission and free for ULM faculty, staff and students with ID. For tickets, call the VAPA box office at 318-342-1414.
