Williamson and Packer present at
national conference

Emily Williamson, director of the ULM Child Development Center and instructor in Curriculum and Instruction and Dr. Dona Packer, assistant professor in Curriculum and Instruction, recently attended the 63rd Annual Southern Early Childhood Association's national conference in San Antonio, Texas.

The conference theme was "Laying the Foundation for Lifelong Learning."

Williamson, Packer and Laura Chestnut, director of the Early Childhood Education Center at Louisiana Tech University conducted a presentation titled "Why 'Ya Gotta Be So Mean? Bibliotherapy on Bullying."

The session gave an overview of different types of bullying and prevention tools and strategies that are literature based that early childhood educators can implement in their classrooms.

Williamson also served on the conference committee as exhibits coordinator.

The Southern Early Childhood Association was started in 1948 and has over 20,000 members.

It focuses on bringing together preschool, kindergarten and primary teachers and administrators, caregivers, program directors, and individuals working with and for families to promote quality care and education for young children in the South.
