ULM College of Pharmacy receives $10,000 for breast cancer research
The momentum of Dr. Paul Sylvester's breast cancer research continues to build.
Today, Louisiana Cancer Foundation representatives presented the University of Louisiana at Monroe College of Pharmacy $10,000 in support of Sylvester's innovative research.

Sylvester is ULM's Pfizer Endowed Professor of Pharmacology and Director of Graduate Studies and Research.
He and his team of researchers are studying how tocotrienols – a rare form of vitamin E – can attack cancer cells in early stages without harming healthy cells.
James Adams, Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Louisiana Cancer Foundation Louisiana Cancer Foundation and a ULM alum, said he is thankful LCF can continue to support Sylvester's work.
During the past six years, LCF has donated $67,500 to ULM's College of Pharmacy.
Adams said, "Louisiana Cancer Foundation's mission is to support research, and we are so happy to support Dr. Sylvester's research," he said.
"Each time I speak to him, I'm so impressed with his knowledge and the team he has assembled. What is equally impressive is that all of this has taken place in our university and in our community."
Adams, a 1986 ULM College of Health Sciences graduate who also earned his Master's of Business Administration from ULM in 2007, is also the Executive Director of the Northeast Louisiana Cancer Institute.
He serves on various committees and councils at both Saint Francis Medical Center and Glenwood Regional Medical Center.
The Louisiana Cancer Foundation was founded in 1999 by the Northeast Louisiana Cancer Institute and obtained its 501(c)(3) status in early 2000.
The purpose of the LCF is to increase public awareness, early detection, treatment and research for cancer throughout Northeast Louisiana.
Services of the LCF are maintained through grants, fundraisers and private and corporate contributions.
