ULM hosting Science Summer Institute

The University of Louisiana at Monroe has been hosting the Science Summer Institute this week, sponsored by the National Faculty. Thirty-two K-8 teachers have been on campus discussing topics such as "Oil Spill Awareness," "Understanding and Utilizing a Local Urban Wetlands Park for Education, and "Balancing Economic Development and Quality of Life," among others.

Dr. Darrell Kruger and Dr. Gary Stringer, geosciences faculty members at ULM, have worked with the teachers who come from the Morehouse, Richaland, East Caroll, Franklin, Ouachita Parish and the Monroe City School Systems.

The institute wraps up Tuesday morning. Tomorrow (Friday) there will be a presentation "Fish in the Bayou: A Field and Lab Experience," at 9 a.m. on the Bayou.
