ULM’s College of Pharmacy will officially open its satellite campus at the Louisiana State University Health Science Center at Shreveport with a 10 a.m. ribbon cutting Wednesday, Aug. 9.
 
Congressman Rodney Alexander will do the honors of cutting the ribbon. Lamar Pritchard, dean of the College of Pharmacy, will address the audience, and attendees will also have the opportunity to tour the facilities, located at 1725 Claiborne Ave.
 
The satellite campus will house 12 faculty members, along with classroom and laboratory space and 25 clinical rotation students to start. Numbers are expected to increase in later years. The students will also work in the LSU Medical Center-Shreveport, as medical centers and pharmacies are very integrated.  
 
The partnership between ULM and LSU is a dynamic investment in the students’ futures, as well as that of the state. LSU's students and doctors will learn more about drug interaction and modern pharmaceuticals, while ULM faculty and students will gain additional knowledge of disease interaction and diagnosing illnesses.
