Everyone is invited to an exhibit presented by the 2008 R.E.A.C.H. Gifted and Talented Summer Program Friday, July 25, from 1:30 – 3 p.m. at the ULM Student Union Building The 15 Research Enrichment Acceleration Creativity for those with High Potential participants, ages 9 – 17, created products for the exhibit. Older students focused on reactions while the younger students worked on change and structures themes. Results include paintings reflecting emotional reactions, and a device similar to a Rube Goldberg machine – described as a deliberately overcomplicated apparatus that performs a simple task in an indirect and complex fashion – to illustrate mechanical reactions. Younger students wrote and illustrated books and created tessellation posters. Both groups worked in a pottery workshop on campus and enjoyed swimming at the ULM Natatorium. A video documentary of the experiences that occurred during the two-week program will be shown at the exhibit. For more information, contact Dr. Debra Troxclair at (318) 342-1279 or at troxclair@ulm.edu. |
