July 23, 2009 ULM History Professor presents Cajun culture in library talk |
||||
The free program, held at the Concordia Parish Library's Vidalia Branch, focuses on Cajun culture as described in Johnson’s book and is open to the public. Later this year, Anderson will participate in the Louisiana Book Festival, where his recent publication, Hoodoo, Voodoo, and Conjure: A Handbook will be a featured non-fiction work. The book explains the history of voodoo and hoodoo, with its roots in African religion and its gradual transformation into uniquely African-American practices. |
