Anderson

Dr. Jeffery E. Anderson, an assistant professor of history at the University of Louisiana at Monroe, will be delivering two presentations about Louisiana Voodoo this month.

At 10 a.m., Wednesday, June 30, Anderson will speak at the Carver Branch of the Ouachita Parish Public Library and also at noon to the Kiwanis Club at the Atrium in Monroe.

The library presentation is in connection with the River Reads program on Louisiana Women: Their Lives and Times, and will include a chapter on Marie Laveau the “Queen of Voodoo” from New Orleans. Anderson will deliver an abridged version at the Atrium.

Anderson on Louisiana Voodoo spoke at the West Monroe Branch of the Ouachita Public Library on June 23, also in connection with the River Reads program. He has also spoken to the Monroe chapter of the English Speaking Union, as well as the main branch of the library on “King Arthur: Legend and History.”

In July, Anderson will participate in the Folklore Festival in Natchitoches.
