Alumni Golf Tournament raises more than $3,000 for ULM scholarship fund

The Second Annual Caddo/Bossier Alumni Golf Tournament, held at the Crooked Hollow Golf Club in Greenwood, La., featured over 40 golfers and raised more than $3,000 in late May. Proceeds from the tournament help endow a scholarship for students from the Caddo/Bossier City area who enroll at the University of Louisiana at Monroe.

The event, hosted by ULM alum Tim Brando, began with a noon shotgun start and was a four-person scramble. Prizes were awarded to first, second and third place winners, as well as to winners of the longest drive and closest to the hole contest.

“Tim is a wonderful guy who plays golf and visits with the contestants throughout the tournament as he promotes his alma mater,” said Tommy Walpole, ULM’s associate director of alumni relations. “It’s for a great cause and everyone seems to always have a good time.”

Acura Car Company sponsored a hole-in-one contest for a 2010 Acura vehicle during the tournament. The tournament is the ULM qualifier for the Acura College Alumni Team Tournament hosted by Pinehurst Country Club, North Carolina in November.
