ULM students featured at Bastrop museum
University of Louisiana at Monroe students Amber Savana, a junior, fine arts major from Monroe, and Allison Salsbury, a senior art major from West Monroe, will have their work featured at The Snyder Museum in Bastrop.
The exhibit, “From London to La.,” will highlight a compilation of sculptures, paintings, and photography by Savana and Salsbury. The works are being presented after the culmination of two summers abroad in London, Paris, and Rome.
Savana used her time abroad to experience new people and new surroundings.
“I spent a month in London and a week in Paris taking photographs,” said Savana. “My passion is portraits because I love working with people.”
Salsbury is honing her skills toward a career in graphic design.
“My work is a few of my thousands of photos I took while overseas,” said Salsbury. “This work is an exploration of different cultures and through my photography, I feel like I can capture a moment and make it last a lifetime.”
The gallery opening will be June 9 from 6-8 p.m. Refreshments will be available while patrons have an opportunity meet the artists and view their work. The exhibit closes June 30.
The museum is located at 1620 East Madison Ave. and is open Tuesday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
