ULM students win 22 prestigious ADDY Awards, doubling accomplishments from last year
University of Louisiana at Monroe students were well-represented at last night's ADDY Awards program, as 11 students walked away with 22 Student ADDY Awards.
This is the second year ULM students competed in the competition. Last year five students won a total of nine awards.
Kenneth Clow, Biedenharn Endowed Chair in Business, is proud of the students' accomplishments. "The ADDY competition, sponsored by the AAF and the local Advertising Club of Northeast Louisiana, provides students the opportunity to display their creative ability and to compete with advertising professionals," he said. "To be recognized by individuals who create advertisements for a living is certainly a great honor and our students should be very proud of their accomplishments this year."
The following students earned awards:
Shows won Best in Show for "Bail Bonds"; Shows won a Gold for "Fuji Film"; Shows won a Silver for "Sure Fresh Mints"; Buckles won five Gold awards for "Steve Madden" entries; Cooksey won a silver for "Vintage Attic"; Giannobile won a Silver for "The Cotton Patch"; Gray won a Silver for "Nike Senior"; Gray won a Gold for "Dell Mouse"; Gray won a Gold for "Gap"; Gray won a Silver for "Apple Ipod"; Jackson won a Silver for "Kodak Moments"; Jenkins won a Gold for "Comfortable Fit"; Jenkins won a Silver for "Valentine's Day"; Munson won a Silver for "Nike Campaign"; Weaver won a Gold for "Capturing the Moment"; Weaver won a Silver for "Afterglow Image Photography"; Weaver won a Silver for "Capturing the Moment."
According to the AAF, the not-for-profit industry association that administers the ADDY Awards via 200 member advertising clubs and 15 districts, this student competition is designed especially for college students. This category allows work entered at a local level to advance up to regional and national judging, just like the work entered by professionals across the U.S.
As stated on the AAF website, “The ADDY Awards represent the true spirit of creative excellence by recognizing all forms of advertising from media of all types.”
