Professor gives geology expertise on the Travel Channel appearance

Pix of Anthony FeigAnthony Feig, assistant professor of geosciences at the University of Louisiana at Monroe, recently appeared on the Travel Channel’s "The Best Places to find Cash and Treasures."

The show used Feig’s expertise when they brought him in as a geologist to speak about the formation of geodes and "thunder eggs," which are volcanic rocks that occasionally yield crystal formations. Feig’s appearance was taped in June 2006.

“The idea is that they travel around looking for where people can find little treasures and make cash,” Feig said. “Geodes aren't worth all that much, but it can be fun to go out rockhounding.”

The show shot takes at Rockhound State Park in New Mexico and on the southwest side of the Little Florida Mountains.
