SBDC to offer credit repair and sales and
use tax workshops
The ULM Small Business Development Center will offer a free “Credit Repair for You and Your Business” workshop Tuesday, March 20 from 6 - 8 p.m. at the ULM Administration Building, Room 2-108.
The workshop is especially intended for individuals who are unsure how to read or interpret their credit reports, who need the definition of credit scores and how to improve them, and need to know what individuals can do if there are errors in their credit information. It is especially recommended for individuals who need to repair their credit, who want to understand the use of credit in the loan process or who have recently been denied credit.
A free Small Business Sales and Use Tax workshop will be offered on Wednesday, March 21 at the ULM Administration Building, Room 2-105.
Ron Carter, administrator of the Morehouse Sales Tax Commission, will present. The sales tax workshop will cover the key definitions of the sales tax law including sales tax and use tax; an overview of the exemptions and exclusions including which pertain to state or to local; how to complete a sales tax return; and brief description of the UTC that became effective on July 1, 2003.
The ULM SBDC provides quality, no-fee, confidential, one-on-one counseling services to potential and existing business owners; provides no-fee management and technical assistance services by appointment; conducts workshops and seminars to help small business people become better managers and to keep them informed about current events and changing trends in today’s business world; and maintains a resource library which includes statistical data, census figures, SBA publications, and a variety of other information.
