Pharmacology journal publishes work of ULM cancer researchers

The group collaborated with Dr. Xin Gu at the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in Shreveport.
The article, “Direct assessment of P-glycoprotein effux to determine tumor response to chemotherapy,” proposes to improve chemotherapy and establish new diagnostic tests for cancer patients.
“More than 50 percent of cancer patients would fail in chemotherapy due to drug resistance of cancer cells,” Liu said. “Early diagnosis of drug resistance of cancer can guide doctors to choose more efficient drugs for cancer patients.”
Liu credited his progress on the study to the support of the Louisiana Biomedical Research Network.
