The primary component of Gregory’s internship involved full-time work in Baton Rouge, and a seminar class each Friday focusing on state government and various issues of political and social concern to women. “She was considered a vital part of the operations of her office, and in my class, was one of the most outstanding students to come through the program,” said Glenn J. Antizzo, LCWG Internship Director at Nicholls State University. Gregory’s internship entailed numerous “real-world” opportunities, including the chance to create an entirely new Web site for the office and efforts to ensure 100 percent participation in web-based reporting through intranet technology. Gregory also researched and collaborated on sources of federal and state grant funding, and delved into the variety of women’s issues facing Louisiana. “The internship was a highlight of my college career,” said Gregory. “I learned far more in a semester living and working in Baton Rouge, than I thought one could absorb in such a short period of time. I will be forever grateful to my professors for recommending me and for their proactive commitment to my education."
