ULM geology professor earns 2009 Science Educator Award
Gary L. Stringer, head of the Department of Geosciences, received his award at the Aquarium of the Americas during the National Science Teachers Association Annual Conference in New Orleans.
The William Craig Award is the most prestigious honor given by the Louisiana Science Teachers Association to university science faculty.
Stringer was nominated by Brenda Nixon, co-director of the Cain Center for Scientific, Technological, Engineering, and Mathematical Literacy at LSU, by Jean May-Brett, Math-Science Project Program Manager for the Louisiana State Department of Education, and by Sue Ellon Lyons, Science Department chair at Holy Cross School in New Orleans.
Stringer is the second ULM science professor to receive the prestigious honor. Eric Pani, associate provost of Academic Affairs, received the award when he was a professor in atmospheric sciences in the Department of Geosciences.
