ULM professor completes service as president of national organization
Dr. Michelle McEacharn, University of Louisiana at Monroe George T. Walker Endowed Professor of Entrepreneurship, recently completed a year of service as President of the Federation of Business Disciplines.
The primary purpose of FBD is to improve instruction and research, and is multidisciplinary in nature, encompassing all areas of business practice.
FBD is an umbrella organization comprised of ten different organizations dedicated to various academic disciplines.
As president, McEacharn began development of a conference-wide journal and implemented an online employment placement program for members.
McEacharn has also taken part in the initiative to take a stronger stance in support of higher education to help legislative bodies who are experiencing budgetary issues.
In addition to her presidency, McEacharn previously served as the organization's Vice-President, General Program Chair and Secretary/Treasurer.
McEacharn's service also includes two years as President of the Southwest Region of the American Accounting Association.
"Dr. McEacharn is an excellent leader who has brought national recognition to ULM and to our College through her outstanding service to the Federation of Business Disciplines," said College of Business Administration Dean Ronald Berry.
"We congratulate and thank her for her leadership of this national academic organization that provides professional development and networking opportunities for business faculty across the country."
"The organization has been instrumental in the professional development of many business faculty from around the world and the professors involved are dedicated to quality business education and research," McEacharn said.
"If given the opportunity, I would do those years of service again because the organization means so much to so many," she said.
A ULM faculty member since 1989, McEacharn serves as the Associate Dean in the ULM College of Business Administration.
