ULM book drive to benefit overseas medical professionals continues until May 14
University of Louisiana at Monroe students or faculty may donate math, science, psychology, mental health, dental, or nursing textbooks, as well as other clinical references or academic journals to this year's Books Without Borders book drive.
Collection bins may be found on campus until May 14 on the ground floors of Strauss, Hanna, Sugar, Nursing, Chemistry & Natural Science, Hemphill, and Stubbs Halls.
These books will be donated to doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and medical students overseas in Afghanistan, Ethiopia, the Philippines, and Antigua through the UCLA Medical Alumni Association and the U.S. Department of State.
In addition, although the Iraq Book Project (coordinated through the U.S. military and U.S. State Department) ended, support to Iraqi physicians, medical students and other health care providers continue with donations coordinated through Ibn Alnafees Teaching Hospital in Iraq.
