In honor of Jake Owen Rayborn, a local child who died of liver cancer Oct. 5, the ULM Greek Council held a two-day blood drive November 15 and 16.

Jake's aunt, Melanie Massey, visited the blood drive to thank the ULM students who volunteered their efforts. Jake's mother visited the blood drive later in the afternoon.

Walter Creekmore, professor of education and Delta Sigma Phi fraternity advisor, is pleased with the efforts of ULM students. "This blood drive was arranged to honor Jake Rayborn who depended on LifeShare to help him fight his battle against cancer and to draw attention to the magnificent work being done by LifeShare and the people of northeast Louisiana to give of themselves to help others," Creekmore said. "This statement made by these young college people speaks volumes of the quality of this generation and the caliber of the students attending the University of Louisiana at Monroe."
