Holly L. Wilson, associate professor of philosophy, will participate in the Oxford Round Table at Pembroke College in the University of Oxford, Oxford, England Aug. 5-10. She is one of only 35 scholars chosen to participate in the session entitled, “Ethical Sentiments: The Waning Trust in Government.”

The session will address the apparent decline in the ethical principles that define the actions of government. Wilson, an expert in ethics, is especially interested in non-violence strategies in the world arena. She believes that such strategies could lead to a de-escalation of arms and the possibility of investing more resources in solving the issues of worldwide poverty and starvation.

Along with participating in the dialogue, Wilson is invited and encouraged to make a presentation at the Round Table, which may then be submitted for publication in the Forum of Public Policy, a journal of the Oxford Round Table. She will present “The Interconnected Human Community and the Ethical Challenge of Peace.”

The Oxford Round Table was founded in 1989 as a forum for small groups of governmental, educational, and business leaders to engage in discussions of contemporary public policy that affect nations and states worldwide. The Oxford Round Table promotes human advancement and understanding through the improvement of education. The Round Table meets periodically and at each session is comprised of a small select group of leaders from both the public and private sectors of several countries.
