Paxton Oliver, associate dean of the ULM College of Health Sciences, was honored as a Distinguished Graduate Oct. 12 – 13 by West Monroe High School during their homecoming.
The public praise, given at a luncheon Oct. 12 and on the stadium field that night, derived from Oliver’s status as an educator who has made national and international presentations, had numerous articles published, taught for over 30 years in higher education, and who has committed his career to helping others.
In the 54 years of WMHS’s existence, there have been 64 Distinguished Graduates so recognized. Oliver’s picture was placed on the Hall of Fame there.
He appreciated the distinction, adding with humor, “I am honored about this…but feel that my WMHS classmates will not believe that ‘Horshack’ from ‘Welcome Back Mr. Kotter’ even graduated from high school.”
