University of Louisiana at Monroe faculty member Dr. Jeffrey Anderson gave a presentation titled “Hoodoo in African American History” on Nov. 17 at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches.

Anderson’s presentation was part of a folklore speaker series sponsored by Dr. Shane Rasmussen, director of the Louisiana Folklife Center. Rasmussen invited Anderson to speak after hearing his presentation at the recent Louisiana Book Festival in Baton Rouge.

Anderson’s presentation included blues music, a hoodoo paraphernalia display and a PowerPoint slide show. He has given similar presentations in northeast Louisiana, including the Ouachita Parish Public Library.
