Paul Dunn, the Distinguished Professor of Entrepreneurship and Small Business at ULM, presented a paper at the University of Vermont on Oct. 8.

The paper, "Examining Four Dimensions of Entrepreneurs' Perceptions on Spouses' Reactions to New Venture Creation – Realistic Optimism, Pessimism, Other Entrepreneurial Characteristics, and Expectations," was co-authored by University of Vermont Associate Professor of Entrepreneurship Dr. Kathleen Liang.

The paper attempts to better explain entrepreneurship and provide students with greater insight into the field. Dunn and Liang have discovered that while entrepreneurs are generally more optimistic about their ventures than others in business, successful entrepreneurs have more realistic expectations.

It was first presented at the annual Association for Small Business and Entrepreneurship in Fort Worth and chosen as the outstanding paper for the conference. The paper was also recently published in the October 2010 issue of the Journal of Business and Entrepreneurship.
