ULM Division of Music features Wind Ensemble and Concert Choir Nov. 23

The Division of Music at the University of Louisiana at Monroe will present a concert featuring the Wind Ensemble and Concert Choir at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 23, in Brown Auditorium. Dr. Derle R. Long conducts the Wind Ensemble and Dr. Deborah Chandler conducts the Concert Choir. There is no admission fee.

The first half of the program will feature the Wind Ensemble and includes the world premiere of Into The Sky by ULM music graduate student Thomas Ruby, who will conduct at the premiere of his composition. The Wind Ensemble program will include the music of Robert W. Smith, Percy Grainger, Claude T. Smith, Aaron Copland, and W. Francis McBeth.

The Wind Ensemble and Concert Choir will join forces after intermission. Music selected for this portion of the program includes a beautiful setting of the "Battle Hymn of the Republic" and an arrangement of the Irish hymn "Be Thou My Vision." The program will have a few holiday favorites, including "God Bless Us Everyone" from Disney's A Christmas Carol, "Betelehemu," based on a Yoruban folk text, and "A Christmas Celebration," which includes some of the holiday season's favorite tunes.
