ULM featured at 2010 CenturyLink Accent on Excellence Breakfast Nov. 9
The Monroe Chamber of Commerce hosts the annual breakfast, which will be held at the Monroe Civic Center Conference Hall. Area teachers and schools will also be recognized for their achievements in support of academic excellence.
The Accent on Excellence Breakfast will honor the following ULM programs and directors: Center for Business and Economic Research, directed by Dr. Robert Eisenstadt; Delta Regional Educators Academy, directed by Rhonda Mann; HHMI Pre-College Research Program, directed by Dr. Ann Findley; and University of Louisiana at Monroe Choral Ensembles, directed by Dr. Deborah Chandler.

• The Center for Business and Economic Research (CBER) provides economic data published annually in the Northeast Louisiana Fact Book, a valuable resource for business leaders and economic development professionals. With CBER's vital information, Monroe attracted a large-scale manufacturing company to the area.
• The Delta Regional Educators Academy (DREAM) partners ULM's College of Education and Human Development and its College of Arts and Sciences with K-12 systems and schools. DREAM offers customized professional development and consultation services, currently to 13 school systems across northern and central Louisiana.
• For 10 years, the Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) Pre-College Summer Research Program has attracted high school students and teachers to ULM for four weeks of summer research. Students conduct experiments and become familiar with science careers. Teachers work with ULM faculty to develop research methods and laboratory modules for use at their schools.
• Through multiple choral ensembles, ULM's students enrich the cultural life of the region's residents and visitors. University Chorale sings a variety of choral music while Concert Choir performs sacred and secular literature. Chamber Singers perform accompanied and a cappella music of all styles and periods.
These programs and directors help ULM to fulfill its mission of preparing students for meaningful lives and service to humanity through excellent student-centered learning every year.
