Students experienced history firsthand when members of the Society for Creative Anachronism reenacted medieval combat in late October.

The Society for Creative Anachronism is an international organization with over 30,000 members worldwide who are dedicated to studying and recreating life in pre-17th century Europe.

Members of the SCA at the University of Louisiana at Monroe dressed in the armor of two crusading orders of the Middle Ages, the Knights Templar and the Knights Hospitalers.

A small crowd gathered to watch near the Student Union Building to see the "knights" perform feats of combat and mock battles. Other events included tournaments, arts exhibits, classes, workshops, feasts, and as well as holding court to recognize the achievements of their members.

Bob Behof, a graduate student participant, described the event as recreating medieval combat "as it may have been."
