ULM's First Year Experience class partners with Ouachita Council on Aging

The University of Louisiana at Monroe First Year Experience fall community service project once again partnered freshmen enrolled in University Seminar with the Ouachita Council on Aging in a multi-faceted project designed to make a broad impact.

Students corresponded with homebound community members and created gift baskets for them. In addition to this work, freshmen helped fill the OCA's food bank.

Freshmen also sold raffle tickets for the annual quilt raffle held by the OCA, breaking records this year by raising a total of $1,100.

"The freshmen students did an amazing job with this year's community service," said Julie Emory, project coordinator and academic advisor at the Student Success Center.

"The Ouachita Council on Aging is a wonderful program and we love supporting them."
