Nursing professors’ project well-received

Earlier this summer, ULM’s Judy Williams, assistant professor of nursing, and Donna Glaze, assistant professor and director of nursing technologies and informatics, presented “Beyond Screen Capture: Using Camtasia to Create Instructional Videos” at the Drexel University Nursing Education Institute in Providence, R.I. Their presentation focused on the advantages of making instructional videos available to the students.

Last spring, Williams and Glaze recorded and produced videos of physical assessment and other required skills for the nursing students using Camtasia, said Williams. Camtasia is a software package that can be used to edit videos and render them in a web-friendly format.

“We surveyed the students and have statistics as to students’ satisfaction with our venture. Our poster is beautiful and feedback from the conference attendees was extremely positive,” Williams said.

Williams and Glaze are sending a proposal for publication to the Journal of Nursing Education.
