Brook Sebren, ULM’s student government association president, will travel to Las Vegas to present a $185,000 check during the annual Jerry Lewis Muscular Dystrophy Association Labor Day telethon airing Monday, Sept. 6, on KNOE-TV.

He is presenting the check on live television, sometime around 7 a.m. local time, as national undergraduate chairman of the Kappa Alpha Order.

Sebren joined Kappa Alpha four years ago. The Rayville native served two years as ULM’s chapter president prior to his election to his current position. In the organization’s 35-year partnership with the MDA, it has raised $2.6 million to combat muscular dystrophy.

“I’ve been very blessed with the ability to serve a variety of different roles across this campus, state, and nation,” said Sebren, a ULM entrepreneurship major.

The Jerry Lewis telethon is in its 45th year in MDA fundraising. With help from organizations such as Kappa Alpha, MDA has raised over $1.46 billion to help those afflicted with the disease.

“I couldn’t be more proud to be Kappa Alpha’s national spokesperson at the Jerry Lewis MDA telethon,” said Sebren. “Kappa Alpha’s efforts not only speak well for our organization, but for a generation of youth that can make a difference.”
