University of Louisiana at Monroe biology graduate and undergraduate students presented their research at the Louisiana Association of Professional Biologists Fall Symposium, Aug. 19 -20, in Lafayette. Graduate student Alex Fotis of Columbis, Ohio, earned first place recognition for his oral presentation titled "Living on the edge: Trees promoting optimal growing conditions for woody seedling." Graduate student Lisa Brown of Tyler, Texas, earned a first-place award for her poster presentation titled "Helminth parasites of the Fowler's Toad, Anaxyrus fowleri, from northeastern Louisiana." Jacob Hudson, a senior biology major from Deville, was a recipient of the LAPB Undergraduate Scholarship for the 2010-2011 year. |
